Logie Awards 2016: Full Winners List

Home and Away cast 2016

The Project’s Waleed Aly was the big winner at a 2016 Logie Awards, in which every network won a prize.

He said he was humbled by his reception at the ceremony.

“There’s been a real tone of appreciation for what the show does and by extension what I do as well,” he said. “I guess we’ve just got a show that has a way of finding itself in people’s feelings and that’s a handy place to be when you’re at the Logies, right?”

“That reason was brought home… not so long ago actually when someone who is in this room, and I’m not going to use the name they use in the industry, came up to me introduced themselves and said to me, “I really hope you win. My name is Mustafa. But I can’t use that name because I won’t get a job.

“He’s here tonight. And it matters to people like that that I am here. I know it’s not because of me. I know that.”

Jessica Marais won her third Logie, a Silver as outstanding actress for Nine’s Love Child.

Seven’s won its fifth Logie as best (or most popular) drama and Ten’s Big Bash League was a surprise winner of the industry-voted most outstanding sports coverage prize.

Actor and writer Tim Minchin won the peer-voted Most Outstanding Supporting Actor, using his acceptance speech to encourage Australia to rewrite its history of settlement no matter how painful.
